I have learned through working for years in retail, always look through your pocket change. There are so many coins that are worth more money that you could imagine. Even one that I found on a coin collecting information site, a Close AM 1992 P penny, is worth over $20000. It is amazing the value of some coins today.
I work in a convenient store, and have people pay with change all the time. I have had people pay with fairly rare coins, without even noticing. One in particular was someone came in and purchased gas with $11 in quarters, still with plastic separators in them. Nobody that collected the change knew anything, so they removes the little separators and put them to the side. I bought them the next day. These coins were 2005Kansas quarter that has a misprint. It says "In god we Rust". It is missing the T. These quarters can sell for quite a bit. I sold 4 on Ebay for about $20. I was not happy with that transaction so I am waiting to take those to a collector, but that is about an hour from me.
That is just one example. I have found silver quarters, collectors edition coins, a roll of uncirculated coins, and much more. This is what people do when they need something, they pay with coins they have been saving forever. If they would make effort they could sell those coins for quite a bit more than face value.
So for your financial sake, watch your change. Look for items online worth money. I know a few
The quarter mentioned above has the In God we Rust on it, or a large hump on the bison, or the spitting bison.
1942-45 wartime nickles
Some of the Indian head nickles
1955 Double died penny
2007 dollar coin that does not have In God we Trust
That is just to name a few. Do a little research and check your pocket change. This can help your finances a lot if you find a valuable coin.
